It’s Autumn, 2015 A.D., and in Greece there is insufficient cause for celebration. The country is in economic ruin, and the natives are restless. The Volos tribe known as BAZOOKA is miffed to say the least, yet they say the most. They deliver the verbiage in their mother tongue, poisonous and pissed, for the duration of their scathing second LP “Useless Generation.” These eleven tracks of turbulent, psychedelic punk brilliantly commandeer the unique sense of youthful contempt of what surely must be the current global vortex of corruption and frustration, yet BAZOOKA sallies forth with dutiful abandon. The sessions that produced “Useless Generation” have yielded a sonic result that would humble the mighty Zeus. Unnerving banshee howls drench the soundscape, surreal, and at times, miraculously humorous. Often stiff, militant and urgent, this newest effort makes no qualms with slathering a syrupy dose of synthesizers bending around the crest of the lunar rising, utilizing reverb soaked woodwinds that spiral down from a 5th flight, and employing totemic canter handed down through the millennia while remaining constantly searing.

ACID BABY JESUS formed in Athens, Greece in 2009. They quickly honed a heavy psychedelic rock’n’roll sound influenced equally by the Western World’s lysergic pop past and Greece’s complex folk history. “We have the tools and we have the talent. No show too small, no fee too big. We’re ready for anything.” ABJs

Greek freak-rock has finally slithered its way into the Black Gladiator stable after years of us trying to keep everything as America-centric – as the birthplace of rock’n’roll – as possible. Sometimes you just glom onto a sound that stimulates your cochlea in such a manner that its origin becomes as meaningless as rock’n’roll itself. Athens duo HAND & LEG is the unit that has popped our intercontinental cherry with their debut, self-titled album of throbbing arthouse post-punk, sonically akin to the more stripped-down elements of the French glue-wave scene. Iro (f: bass guitar) and Stelios (m: drums) bleed gross distortion over grinding sex beats with precision, alternating vox on tributes to unlikely American folk gods Dave van Ronk and Lester Bangs, while channeling the traditional, Minoan minimal music of Crete to complete their primitive manifesto: The Kritikal Beatdown.

Welcome to the latest USELESS EATERS installment in the Slovenly Recordings repertoire. Following the unrestrained pummel of 2014’s “Desperate Living” 7inch, and the strange cohesiveness of their “Singles: 2011-2014” collection, we present you with this stark and weird new “Temporary Mutilation” five track 10inch EP. Featuring the instrumental prowess of drummer Miles Luttrell from future Slovenly legends SCRAPER, Brendan Hagarty on bass, and recorded by Kelley Stoltz (Third Man Records fame) and mastered by Mikey Young of Australia’s TOTAL CONTROL, this release especially exemplifies singer / guitarist / leader Seth Sutton’s growth as a sonic craftsman – less concerned with “punk” as a sound while inevitably remaining PUNK, devoting himself to the development of unique noise. The title track’s skeletal arrangement and oddball meter has been embellished with haunting vibrations via phones of the saxo & xylo variety, electronic rhythmic units have been employed in “Poison Dart”, and the entirety of the EP bleeds with Sutton’s trademark horrific sci-fi imagery and aggressive riffs and delivery.

Out of the ashes of two legendary Boston bands Tunnel Of Love, and Fuzzy; The Monsieurs are known for the uncanny ability to make any persons head bang into a furious whiplash with simple rock and roll grooviness. Backed by two blonde bombshells, Hilken Mancini and Erin King assist frontman Andy Macbain in leading the Monsieurs through an unleashing indictable rockin’ rollin’ assault with sharp aesthetics, and aggression rooted in a keen pop sensibility making this platter just palatable enough for those with even the easiest listenings of taste.

Atlanta’s SUBSONICS are a gutter-glam, minimal rock’n’roll trio. This is their 8th album and it’s called “Flesh Colored Paint.” Like all their previous works, this is a distilled hodgepodge of decades of popular culture and classic literature culminating in a collection of short and groovy shambolar: Chuck Berry, Albert Camus, AM radio rock jocks, Bo Diddley, Golden Age TV, surrealism, Mad Magazine, kung-fu flicks, Herman Melville, Little Richard, self-negating philosophy, David Johansen, The Bible, Dee Dee Ramone, Lee Van Cleef, Cornell Woolrich, advertising jingles, Dada, Carole King, Bugs Bunny, and Casablanca; the poem, not the film. This is a gorgeous mess of a record, and it’s cool. REAL COOL, KILLER. We hope you’ll find something within to make you think, or at the very least, dance, if it’s too deep.

The Bay City Rollers are a Scottish pop band whose profile peaked in the mid 1970s. The British Hit Singles & Albums noted they were "tartan teen sensations from Edinburgh", and were "the first of many acts heralded as the 'biggest group since the Beatles' and one of the most screamed-at teeny-bopper acts of the 1970s".For a relatively brief, but fervent period (nicknamed "Rollermania"), they were worldwide teen idols. The group's line-up had many changes over the years, but the classic line-up during its heyday included: guitarists Eric Faulkner and Stuart John Wood, singer Les McKeown, bassist Alan Longmuir, and drummer Derek Longmuir. The line-up in 2018 includes guitarist Stuart John Wood (Woody), singer Ian Thomson, bassist Marcus Cordock and drummer Jamie McGrory.

The Rezillos are a punk/new wave band formed in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1976. Although emerging at the same time as other bands in the punk rock movement, the Rezillos did not share the nihilism or social commentary of their contemporaries, but instead took a more light-hearted approach to their songs, preferring to describe themselves at the time as "a New Wave beat group".Their songs are heavily influenced by 1950s rock and roll, 1960s English beat music and garage rock, early 1970s glam rock, and recurring lyrical themes of science fiction and B movies; their influences mirrored those of US bands the Cramps, the B-52s, and X, who were starting out at the same time. The Rezillos' biggest hit in their home country was the UK Top 20 single "Top of the Pops" in 1978, but they are best known outside the UK for their cover version of "Somebody's Gonna Get Their Head Kicked In Tonight", which was featured on the soundtrack to Jackass: The Movie in 2002. Since the Rezillos recorded it, the song has been covered by other punk bands, including Youth Brigade and Murphy's Law.
