Jasper Wrath - Odyssey

US band JASPER WRATH was formed in 1969, when Jeff Cannata (drums), Michael Soldan (keyboards), and Robert Gianotti (guitars) left their former bands to pursue other musical directions; and with the addition of Phil Stone (bass) the new band was formed. The first six months or so of it's existence the band concentrated on writing new material, and then sent oout demos to select record companies in New York and Los Angeles. A few weeks later MGM Records contacted the band, and after a live showcase for the label the band landed a record deal. Their debut album was recorded at Phil Ramone's studio over a few weeks, and was issued in 1971. A short time after the release a national tour is planned, but when Gionatti suddenly decides to leave the band; and a suitable replacement can't be found, the outfit temporarily splits.

TAD - Wood Goblins

Tad (often styled as TAD) was an American grunge band from Seattle, Washington, formed in 1988 by Tad Doyle. Among the first of the many bands which came out of Seattle in the grunge era, Tad was notable for the fact that its music was inspired far more by 1970s metal (much like Alice in Chains and Soundgarden) than the punk which influenced many other grunge bands.

Merlin - Iron Borne (Live)

At the beginning of the year, right after The Wizard was released, we decided to switch to a 6 piece lineup and loved the sound so much that we wanted to record and release our first show together no matter how intensely unpredictable or potentially sloppy it was gonna be on stage. We wanted to do it no matter what would befall upon us. Well it ended up being a pretty cool night and without further ado...We are proud to announce our newest release, Dank Souls and Dark Weed: A Live Experience

Lucid Sins - The Witcher

Every now and then a band comes along and gives you something new. Rarely is that something melodic, as there are limited permutations in rock and at some point everything is derivative. LUCID SINS manage that three card trick with a blend of pastoral, psychedelic freshness. It’s a mix of Topanga Canyon legends, Crosby, Stills and Nash, occult rock, and antique doom not a million miles removed from the first Witchcraft record. This is a heady mix of melody and nuance that will appeal to any listener.
The danger of using melody in doom is that you risk alienating the metal listeners. The key to retaining your credibility is, of course, lyrical content. Ghost’s overt melodies where offset by their dedication to the dark side, which made them successful. Lucid Sins, likewise, make good on content. In short, they know their stuff.

Alice Cooper - I'm Eighteen

Demon Head - The Resistance

Denmark’s most authentic proto-metal project took shelter from the winter on 2016 and shook off the frost with their massive second full-length ‘Thunder on the Fields’. It was somewhat overlooked for it’s retro sound and stripped-down hard psych style. The allure of Demon Head is in their dark proto-metal sound that rolls out like a cleaned up Pentagram tape from the 70’s. The immediate draw for me towards Demon Head was the lightly baked vocals of M. Ferreira Larsen that have a perfect affectation for their style, his cadence is halfway between briefly NWOBHM/prog band Demon‘s Dave Hill and a touch of 90’s Glenn Danzig minus the hysterics. His tone brings some horror and darkness that few retro-referential groups manage and elevates the personality of their guitar driven rock music.

Truth and Janey - Down the Road I Go

Not to be dismissed because of its underground status, Truth and Janey's only LP, No Rest for the Wicked, was another incredible find for indie record label Monster Records, which has always specialized in digging up long-forgotten American hard rock nuggets from the '70s, but really struck gold this time around.

Bad Religion - No Control

No Control is the fourth album by American punk rock band Bad Religion, released on November 2, 1989 through Epitaph Records. Bad Religion began work on the album while touring in support of its previous album, Suffer (1988). No Control is stylistically faster than its predecessor, owing more to hardcore punk. Additionally, it was the first Bad Religion album not to feature a lineup change from after one consecutive studio album.

WitchSorrow - De Mysteriis Doom Sabbathas

Witchsorrow are a prime example of a band unaffected by this Johnny-come-lately approach and play their pure and epic non-pretentious brand of Doom Metal straight from the heart. If their self-titled 2010 debut suggested that, God Curse Us confirms it across almost an hour of unsullied doom.
